What is olive oil?
After my husband and I decided to begin eating healthy, we made a quick switch to olive oil after finding out the great benefits of it (and the dangers of many vegetable oils like canola). In our world today, olive oil is known to be a healthier, better quality oil. But exactly what is olive oil?
Olive oil is literally the fruit juice of olives. Seriously! How cool is that?!
How do we get orange juice? We apply pressure to the oranges until the sweet juice spills out of it. That’s exactly how this oil is made. Of course, there are more processes to ensure all oil is used from the olives. However, this yummy stuff contains a bunch of antioxidants and fights inflammation throughout the body.
How is olive oil made?
After the olives arrive at the facility, they are pressed on a machine until the texture is a paste. Then, the oil is separated from the watery substance in the paste. Plenty of Antioxidants
Of course, this natural substance is filled with plenty of vitamins, antioxidants, flavonoids, and minerals. However, it wouldn’t be a great idea to consume a whole lot of honey in the hopes of receiving your recommended daily intake of antioxidants. Many people associate having a great time with consuming alcohol. Just recently, my husband and I threw a little party at our home as our way of celebrating our first apartment together. However, many people were not okay with the fact that drinking was not allowed in our home. I was completely shocked. I’ve never experienced something like that before. People were verbally abusive toward us because of a rule we implemented in our house. I remember thinking, “People can’t go a few hours without alcohol to hang out? Seriously?!”
Growing up, I’ve seen first hand what alcohol is capable of. The blackouts, yelling, arguments, and disrespect was NOT fun to be around. My husband and I decided to change our family tree and discontinue the drinking trait. Trust me, we don’t miss it.
Nevertheless, the sad truth remains that alcohol use disorders affects more than 15 million people in the United States.  Alcohol is a legal drug and it’s extremely addictive. If you’re over 21, it’s incredibly easy to obtain and the majority of people spend their 21st birthday getting completely wasted. That’s the norm, right?
Advertising commercials make drinking look so great and fun, but 80,000-100,000 people die each year from alcohol related deaths. [1, 2] I really don’t think drinking should be considered as a game or sport. It’s dangerous. Yet, drinking seems to be highly supported among most people. “What’s the big deal?” “Surely, you can have a drink or two. It won’t hurt.” Yeah… I’ll pass on that.
Stop Drinking Alcohol Immediately!
I’m not kidding. After reading this blog post, I pray it will have enough hard truth in it to keep you away from this liquid poison.

The dangers of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) are a real threat. It can cause heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and so much more. When I began my health journey, I was incredibly shocked at how harmful this substance was. It’s more astonishing when you find out how many foods and beverages contain HFCS. I was a bit mad. No longer could I indulge in the foods I once loved. However, my commitment to myself and my family is more important than my pallet’s preferences.
I formed a habit of actively checking the ingredients of the products I purchase. We went on a mission to clear out our cabinets of anything without nutritional value. Reasons To Quit Soda Today
Soda was a normal thing in our household. I was raised to love it and we drank it every day. I didn’t make the decision to quit soda until in my twenties. It’s normal to drink soda regularly, isn’t it?
The only issue with soda is it’s incredibly unhealthy for you. (Like WAYY unhealthy!) It leads to many of the health problems we see in our culture today. The darn things are everywhere! You can go anywhere and order a Coke. The drink is also highly addictive. These companies know exactly what they’re doing to push revenues through the roof by ensuring you’ll purchase more in the future. After learning the health effects of consuming this soft drink, I chose to stand up and say, “No more!”
It was incredibly tough for me to stop drinking soda. The more I tried to stop, the more I wanted it. I was caught up in an addiction that I was determined to win. After failing multiple times, my victory finally prevailed. At last, I can say I’m free from carbonated drinks and I’m glad for it. However, many people give me weird looks when I politely decline soda. It makes me feel like an outcast.
