Becoming successful in life is not rocket science, yet there are many people out there who have no idea how to become successful. If you’re one of them, that’s okay. I’m here for you!
There are some universal truths behind successful lives that can help you reach your goals faster. By following the list below, you can be sure to experience everlasting change and achieve your desires like never before.
Add Value Or Help Somebody
A truly successful person knows that in order to breed more success, they must add more value to someone’s life. For example, big companies that we all know and love do something for us, don’t they? They provide us with the product we need for the right price. By providing us with something we were asking and looking for, they create wealth as a byproduct.
It should always be your first priority to create something that will benefit others. You cannot trick people into becoming a dedicated and loyal customer. Instead, focus on providing them with a solution to their needs and they will come back time after time, happy to give you their money in exchange for your service.
On the flipside, when you focus on helping someone (even for free), you build trust with that person and they will be sure to tell others about how friendly and life-changing your help was. Never underestimate the power of word of mouth. By helping others without asking for anything in return, you build relationships with people who will have a great opinion of you.
Also, the universe always returns that which is sent out. You will always reap what you sow. Therefore, sow the things you wish to receive.
Take Care Of Your Body
In order to be successful and enjoy the fruits of your labor, you absolutely must take care of your body. Your health should always be your top priority. Could you imagine how devastating it would be to work hard to reach your goals and can’t enjoy the end result because you’re too out of shape? I don’t want that for anyone, especially not you.
That’s why I’ve written plenty of articles about eating healthy and exercise. I strongly encourage you to check them out.
Although physical maintenance is important, mental health is just as important. Because the mind dictates everything you do, you have to provide it with the keys it needs to thrive and drive success.
Not only can it be devastating to reach your goals and not be able to enjoy them, but it’s also devastating to not be able to reach your goals at all due to physical or mental limitations caused by poor health. Don’t let that happen to you. Stay mentally and physically strong by taking care of your body.
Feed Your Mind
Jim Rohn is a great teacher on being successful in life. In his teachings, he compares the brain to a mental factory which pumps out and produces everything we have in our life. If we want different results in our life, we must give the factory different materials in which to produce.
That’s why standing guard at the factory of our mind is critical. The first thing you have to ask yourself is, “What kind of things do I want to produce in my life?” Then, you have to be watchful throughout your day asking if each thing you’re participating in is going to give you the desired results you’re after.
For example, if your desire is to be rich but you do not know how to be rich, then you may have to replace your television time with study time. And don’t confuse reading with getting quality information. There are many things to read out there that is junk and doesn’t deserve your precious time and focus.
Become intentional with what you allow into your mind. This means what you watch, read, and do can all affect your mind.
Raise Your Standards
Raising your standards sounds very simple and easy. However, many people don’t even know what their standards are. And we all have standards. Some people have standards to not get hurt, so they will never risk a relationship again. Or some people have a standard to pay the bills. Therefore, they pay the bills and don’t have any money leftover.
What about people who are extremely disciplined? For instance, my husband works out six days a week. Why? Because that’s his standard. He absolutely must work out that much in a week or he doesn’t feel like himself.
What are the things you know you should be doing? People don’t feel compelled to fulfill their shoulds, but people will always find a way to do their musts. Raise your standards by transforming your shoulds into musts and you’ll be surprised at the outcome.
Take Control Of Your Mind
Did you know? You have complete power and control over what you allow yourself to think about. Most people do not know this truth and believe they have to think about whatever falls into their mind. However, that’s simply not true.
Where did we adopt our beliefs? Many people have no idea where they’ve picked up certain things, yet they live their life by them. Most of the times, things get impressed on us when we are still children. We see mommy and daddy do it, so we believe that’s the way it must be done. Or maybe our parent constantly said things over and over until they drenched our sub-conscience and became a core belief.
As I began learning new things, my mind was completely changed. All the things I once believed, I no longer believe. As a result, my life is totally different. You can change too! I would suggest starting with an expert in an area you want to evolve in. For me, I wanted to learn about finances so I invested in teachings from Dave Ramsey and Tony Robbins. My husband spends a lot of time learning from C.T. Fletcher, an expert in weight lifting. Choose an area and find an expert you trust to learn from.
Meditate On Your Goals
Meditating on your goals is so powerful! Why? Because as a man thinks, so does he become. That’s not just scripture, but a truth of the law of attraction. I would suggest starting your day by meditating on the goals you’re after and the life you desire. By doing so, you’ll be slowly shaping your unconscience mind to receive these things. Also, by doing this you’ll inevitably begin creating ways to bring these goals into reality.
Believe In Yourself
If you don’t take anything else from this list, please remember this one. Believing in yourself is the most important thing you can do because there will be plenty of people out there who won’t. But just because others cannot see your potential, doesn’t mean that they’re correct.
The human mind can achieve anything it believes (even if it’s believing in the impossible). Just think of all the great things we have today. The technology we have was once thought to be impossible, yet someone out there believed they can create it.
Don’t settle for less than you know you can achieve. Believe in yourself and you’ve already won half the battle.
Be Willing To Do Whatever It Takes
After you’ve made the decision to believe in yourself, the next step is to do whatever it takes to make it a reality. Let’s face it: anything worth having is going to take a bunch of work. But I believe in you and I know you can make it happen.
What’s motivating you? Why must you reach your goals? We all have a reason. What’s yours? When you have a clear vision of why you must succeed, the hard work will be worth it to you. The chances of you giving up short of the goal line will be less likely.
That’s why I want you to take some time out and envision what life will be like once you’ve achieved your goals. What will it feel like when you’ve finally obtained your desires? Constantly keep that in front of you and you’d be surprised at how much further you’re willing to stretch yourself.
Live Peaceably With Everyone
I’m a firm believer in honoring and respecting others, but when I read As A Man Thinketh by James Allen that belief was expanded. In the book, he discusses that people only sin because they are without knowledge of the true consequences of their sins.
In other words, when someone sins against you and offends you, it’s not a reflection of your character, but their own. Realizing this truth makes forgiveness much easier to give because you no longer take things personally.
Plus, there are people out there who will refuse to be kind to you no matter how kind you are to them. And that’s okay. Everyone is allowed to act however they want, but if you want to live a successful life then making enemies will not be a smart idea. Instead, you should concentrate on making friends wherever you go.
It’s actually simpler than you may think. I always follow these few rules when meeting new people.
- Smile and greet them.
- Be authentic.
- Ask questions about them.
- Only speak when it adds value to the conversation.
- Respect them.
- Compliment them.
- Remember their name.
- Next time you see them, greet them by their name.
Some people want to open up and talk to you and others may not. Nevertheless, you should follow these guidelines when speaking with people. Although a lot of these points are important, always remember to respect them. People are allowed to be different and have their own beliefs. As a matter of fact, I would say to not even mention your beliefs or point of view unless asked for it.
Many conflicts arise because people want others to convert to their point of views. If we simply agree to disagree, life would be much simpler and people who are different would get along much better.
Believe it or not, no matter how different two people are they will always have one thing in common. Guaranteed! Once that common ground is established, conversations will no longer be forced. Conversations will genuinely arise that the two are interested in.
